Concrete cutting in Chelsea

Chelsea is the village at the edge of Gatineau Park, about 15 minutes north of Gatineau via Highway 5. The housing stock here is unlike anywhere else in the region: older homes in Old Chelsea, country properties, and chalets tucked into the woods — many sitting on poured-concrete or block foundations laid right against the bedrock. Whether you're enlarging a basement window, cutting a patio door toward the yard, or coring a clean exit for a heat pump line, we understand construction in the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais, and we work clean in lived-in homes — in English or in French.

Our services in Chelsea

• Window & door openings — enlarge a basement window for an egress-compliant bedroom, or cut a patio door into the foundation wall
• Concrete coring — precise holes for heat pumps, HRVs, dryer vents or plumbing
• Slab sawing — cuts in the basement slab to move a drain or add a bathroom
• Rock cutting — controlled cuts and demolition where concrete meets Canadian Shield bedrock
• Window well cut-outs — foundation cuts prepped for well installation

In Chelsea, many owners call us to make a chalet or country-home basement actually usable: an enlarged window or a new patio door changes the space completely. The cut itself usually takes a few hours; we wet-saw to keep dust down, even in fully finished homes.

Chelsea specifics

• Rock is everywhere: Canadian Shield bedrock surfaces across much of the village — foundations are often poured directly on rock, and some cuts need heavier equipment
• Municipality of Chelsea permits: changing an opening in an exterior wall or adding a basement bedroom requires a permit from the Municipality of Chelsea (MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais) — we'll walk you through it
• Country properties and tricky access: gravel roads, sloped lots, isolated homes — we plan access and water supply for wet sawing before we arrive

Cutting a patio door into a foundation in Chelsea

It's one of the most requested projects in the area: cutting a patio door into the foundation wall to give the basement direct access to the yard — ideal for a rental chalet, a basement suite, or simply to enjoy the property. We cut the opening to exact dimensions, set a lintel to carry the load, and prep the surround for the door frame. On the sloped lots around the park, a walk-out patio door literally turns a basement into a garden-level floor. The cut itself takes about a day in most cases. Send us a photo of the wall and your dimensions, and we'll come back with a clear price.
