Concrete cutting in Buckingham

Buckingham is the easternmost sector of the City of Gatineau, on the banks of the Lièvre River, about 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa. The housing stock here is mostly bungalows built between the 1950s and 1980s — solid family homes with basements that are now prime candidates for renovation. Adding a basement bathroom, enlarging a window for a code-compliant bedroom, cutting a clean exit for plumbing or a heat pump: that's exactly the kind of work we do week after week in the sector, in Buckingham and neighbouring Masson-Angers alike.

Our services in Buckingham

• Window & door openings — enlarge a basement window for an egress-compliant bedroom, or cut a patio door into the foundation wall
• Concrete coring — precise holes for heat pumps, HRVs, dryer vents or plumbing
• Slab trenching — sawing and opening the slab to move a drain or rough in a new basement bathroom
• Garage opening widening — converting a single door to a double
• Window well cut-outs — foundation cuts prepped for well installation

In Buckingham, basement renovation is the number one project. The 1960s and 1970s bungalows often have thin slabs and original drains that no longer line up with a modern layout. We open the slab cleanly, your plumber does the rough-in, and you build on a solid base.

Buckingham specifics

• 1950s–1980s housing stock: concrete block or poured foundations, often thinner than today's — we match cutting depth and technique to the age of the building
• City of Gatineau permits: Buckingham is a sector of the City of Gatineau — permits to modify an exterior opening or add a basement bedroom go through Gatineau's urban planning department, and we'll walk you through the process
• Near the Lièvre River: in some low-lying areas the water table is high — we check site conditions before cutting into slabs or foundations

Cutting a slab trench for plumbing

Want to add a bathroom or powder room in the basement? In most cases, a drain has to be moved or added under the slab — and that starts with a cleanly sawn trench. We lay out the run with your plumber, saw both sides of the trench with a slab saw, then remove the concrete in manageable sections. The result: a neat opening with no uncontrolled cracking in the rest of the slab, and a plumber who can get to work right away. On Buckingham bungalows, this is often a one-day job. Send us a quick sketch or photos of the basement, and we'll come back with a clear price.
